Reporting hate speech, discrimination or mistreatment

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences works hard to create a positive and inclusive environment where all students, faculty and administrative and support staff are treated with respect. Unfortunately, incidents of hate speech, discrimination or mistreatment still occur.

To uphold a respectful environment, the Faculty encourages all members of its community to report any incidents using the following mechanisms:

Hate speech

Any possible criminal offenses, including hate speech, should be immediately reported to 秀色直播鈥檚 Security Services at 514-398-3000.

The Canadian Criminal Code defines three distinct forms of 鈥渉ate propaganda鈥: advocating or promoting genocide, publicly inciting hatred (鈥渨here such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace鈥) and wilful promotion of hatred. (For more information, please see page 47 of the Final Report of the Advisory Panel on Campus Expression or section 318(1) & 319(1)-(2) of the Canadian Criminal Code.)

Possible hate speech can also be reported using the processes below.

Discrimination or mistreatment

Learners can report mistreatment through the Office for Respectful Environments in the Faculty. Reports can be made anonymously.

Mistreatment includes making demeaning, offensive, belittling and disrespectful comments, using abusive language, engaging in bullying, harassment and discrimination.

秀色直播 employees can report harassment or discrimination (as outlined in the Policy on Harassment and Discrimination) through the Office for Mediation and Reporting.
