From lab benches to local watersheds, Ðãɫֱ²¥ researchers are investigating some of today's most pressing water challenges.

Several exciting projects involving researchers in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (AES) were selected for seed funding through two initiatives: the Brace Water Innovation Seed Grants and the Brace Water Centre and CentrEau Project Seed Fund Program.

The Government of Canada , including $412,700 to Ðãɫֱ²¥ to demonstrate and evaluate best management practices to reduce phosphorus runoff from urban and agricultural sources in the Lake Simcoe watershed and to engage the community through outreach and events.

As Canadians experience a year of record-breaking wildfires, floods, and extreme heat, experts are warning that these conditions will persist and likely intensify over the coming decades as we experience the escalating effects of climate change and global warming. These impacts are being felt even more acutely in northern regions of the planet, where temperatures are rising at four times the global rate.

C’est ce que fait Subhasis Ghoshal, professeur de génie civil à l’Université Ðãɫֱ²¥ [et le Centre Brace pour la gestion des ressources de l'eau], qui s’intéresse à la présence de nanoparticules de métal dans les eaux usées. Il souhaite évaluer le risque de contamination des sols lorsque les boues issues du traitement des eaux municipales sont recyclées en milieu agricole.
