Critical questio ns that have long been overlooked are finally being addressed. However\, p revailing research paradigms often fail to reflect the realities of Black scholars and their communities. Traditional research has frequently been f ramed through a deficit lens\, positioning universities as external entiti es rather than recognizing their embeddedness within the communities they serve. With the growing presence of Black scholars in higher education\, t here is a concerted effort to transform universities into sites of resista nce and vehicles for meaningful change.\n\nThe overall goal of the symposi um is to consolidate and expand the state of knowledge regarding how to co nduct research that empowers and uplifts Black communities in Canada\, usi ng approaches that center Black experiences and perspectives. It will\, th erefore\, specifically highlight approaches and practices to research that prioritize the voices and experiences of Black communities\, fostering em powerment and creating meaningful change via the following objectives:\n\n \n Promote the use of Afrocentric and Black-centered research paradigms.\n \n\n\n Encourage participatory and collaborative research methods that acti vely involve community members.\n\n\n\n Explore strategies for addressing s ystemic inequities and racism in research.\n\n\n\n Share best practices for knowledge mobilization that benefit Black communities.\n\n\n\n Facilitate discussions on how research can drive social justice and transformative ch ange.\n\n\nRegistration: Registration is now open\n\n๐Ÿ”— English version: ht tps://forms.office.com/r/urLpYA2p8G\n\n๐Ÿ”— French version:https://forms.offi ce.com/r/Ay5jaMQ9jy\n\nCall for posters: We invite undergraduate and gradu ate students to submit poster presentations for the symposium.
