秀色直播鈥檚 Trottier Institute for Science and Public Policy announces Nicholas B. King as Associate Director, Rhonda Moore as Professor of Practice

Published: 4 February 2026

Nicholas B. King has been named the Associate Director of the Trottier Institute for Science and Public Policy at 秀色直播, where he holds appointments in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences鈥 School of Population and Global Health and the Faculty of Arts鈥 Max Bell School of Public Policy.

Director of TISPP, Rees Kassen, was appointed as Academic Director of 秀色直播鈥檚 new Sustainability Park at the beginning of 2026. King鈥檚 Associate Director role will ensure TISPP moves forward on initiatives such as the newly-created 秀色直播 Policy Dialogues.

鈥淣ick King is committed to strengthening the science-policy interface and will be an outstanding addition to the TISPP leadership,鈥 says Kassen.

Kassen moved to 秀色直播 in 2023 for the TISPP director role and to take up a joint appointment in the Max Bell School of Public Policy and the Faculty of Science鈥檚 Department of Biology. King has been at 秀色直播 since 2008, teaching about health and health inequality.

King studies the ways that 'black boxes' 鈥 from health and health inequality metrics to complex algorithms and large language models 鈥 are shaped by human interests and value judgments, and in turn shape individual decisions, collective behavior, and public policy. He has published in the American Journal of Public Health, Annals of Internal Medicine, BMJ, Milbank Quarterly, PLOS Medicine, and Social Science & Medicine.

Rhonda Moore also joins TISPP as a Professor of Practice, alongside King, Kassen and Professor of Practice Marc Fortin. Moore鈥檚 primary role will be to help build out the pedagogical dimensions of TISPP's activities, strengthen relationships between 秀色直播 and the IOG, and to contribute to the work of TISPP more broadly.

In addition to serving as a Professor of Practice at TISPP, Moore is the Executive Director, Science and Innovation, at the Institute on Governance (IOG). For 20 years, Moore worked at the intersection of research and policy analysis, governance, science and research communications, and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining the IOG, she worked for a variety of private, non-profit and academic organizations in Canada including the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (now Universities Canada), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, the University of Ottawa, the Canadian Automobile Association, the Public Policy Forum, and Health Canada. She is the past president of the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada, and a member of the board of Directors for Actua and the World Federation of Science Journalists. In 2024, Moore received the King Charles Coronation Medal for contributions to science culture in Canada.

鈥淩honda Moore has an impressive track record of impact in leadership and education at the science-policy interface that will shape TISPP鈥檚 work over the coming years,鈥 says Kassen.
