After descri bing multiple key examples of quantitative dissonance\, I will explain why the peer review process is powerless to prevent such errors from prolifer ating and polluting the scientific record\, even when researchers adhere t o the strictest open science guidelines. I will close by arguing that the only way out of this intellectual dark age is to (1) disincentivize workin g group papers and (2) modify the curriculum for undergraduate and graduat e programs by emphasizing critical thinking over rote memorization.\n DTSTART:20231107T170000Z DTEND:20231107T180000Z SUMMARY:QLS Seminar Series - Tarik Gouhier URL:/qls/channels/event/qls-seminar-series-tarik-gouhi er-350523 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
