DESCRIPTION:The 秀色直播 Archives is pleased to announce two event
 s in commemoration of Remembrance Day.聽 On November 11\, a digitized versi
 on of the newly restored Book of Remembrance will be launched on the McGil
 l Remembers website. In addition\, attendees at the Remembrance Day Servic
 e are invited to view the original Book of Remembrance on temporary displa
 y from 10am to 4pm in the lobby of McLennan Library Building.聽 This event 
 will be followed by the official unveiling and long-term display of a repl
 ica copy on November 13 at 4:30PM.聽\nThe illuminated Book of Remembrance r
 ecords the names of the nearly 700 students\, staff and faculty who lost t
 heir lives in World War I and World War II.聽 Each name is handwritten in c
 alligraphy and the parchment pages are illuminated with vibrant reds\, blu
 es or greens\, as well as silver and gold.聽 The Book is bound in red leath
 er with the 秀色直播 emblem emblazoned with silver and gold on th
 e cover.\nThe Book was first unveiled during the official opening of Memor
 ial Hall\, now part of the Currie Gymnasium Complex\, on November 26\, 195
 0.聽 Memorial Hall was to be the permanent home of the Book of Remembrance 
 and commemorative artifacts such as the battalion flags and the portrait o
 f the Unknown Soldier\, as well as the site for future Remembrance Day cer
 emonies.聽 By the mid-1980s\, Memorial Hall was no longer used for these ac
 tivities\, and the illuminated Book of Remembrance was becoming a distant 
 memory.\nIn February 2014\, the Book of Remembrance was removed from its o
 riginal casing in Memorial Hall to be restored and digitized.聽 As a result
  of this project\, a replica of the Book was made and will be housed in a 
 special display case in the pedway connecting the McLennan and Redpath Lib
 rary Buildings. A digitized version will be launched on the 秀色直播 Remembe
 rs website\, and the original will be made accessible for viewing in the R
 are Books and Special Collections\, and Archives Reading Room on the fourt
 h floor of the McLennan Library Building.\n	聽\n
